Is Hearts & Minds Movement Studio a business or a hobby? That is not a question asked of McDonald’s nor YWCA. This is an over-arching question asked of those businesses entering the world wide web within a virtual nature. This is the question of schools coming into the home through the computer. Or those wanting to work remotely. So many questions about something being real or not.
Being compensated for leading movement classes in brick and mortar places of business indicates a sense of realness. Being compensated for managing change in business processes suggests an inclination toward continuous improvement. Here we are on the first day of 2022 this is a compilation of the December’s notes published on the H&M Subscriber’s Newsletter. If your email inbox is acting like my inbox, it seems everyone has something to say. So, I will put my closing message for the year right here.
First, thank you, thank you, thank you. I hope that I would have moved as much as I did this past year on my own as I have with you, but the joy of sharing with you enhances the pleasure. I look back on the year and see where we were and where we are today with a happy heart. In the monthly and weekly Wellness Events we discuss motivation and inspiration, what keeps us moving. The one way to keep moving is to know that tomorrow never comes, now is all there is. When I take a couple of days “off” I feel it. The H&M approach is move a little each day so we can move every day. Be thankful for what you have and say “Yes &.”
Day 31 of 31 meditations from relax & stay aware – dhamma is understanding. We overcome unhappiness only by becoming clearly aware of the process that creates unhappiness over and over in the mind. Wellness Opportunities Coming in 2022
The Monthly Reiki Circle will evolve into more sharing with a hands-on focus, either distant hands beam or in-person share.
The Self-Care Conversations will include new elements of self-development. The aim is to include self-care practice, daily attention, incorporating personal intentions, support, practical application. The work starts now, including your lists of 100 Gratitudes & Questions.

Our virtual Vision Board circle consisted of light conversation, sharing memories, and creativity. There is a sense of magic in the process that melds gratitude and curiosity with trust and (hope-faith-desire) to materializing our intention. May we all have a wonderful 2022.

The mystery of what happens between necessity and overindulgence reveals the loss of reality to make believe apparent without awareness. Again, not the need to know, rather an awareness, a pause, a breath. The awareness of craving or aversion or delusion

The ACCESS LIVE EVENTS ON ZOOM button atop the left column is your entry into creating your Vision Board for 2022. Be fresh with willing openness of possibility. The exercise of sitting with pencil and paper to list gratitude (the ability to see the beauty in all things, which can be challenging) and a second list of questions (loosening the way things need to be with flexibility of mind and spirit) to the work-space for imagination to create a vision for the coming year. Best to leave “shoulds” and “ought-tos” by the wayside and invite levity as your traveling partner for this delightful activity.
Day 29 of 31 meditations from relax & stay aware the intention to think. And the delight begins here as a thought about thinking. Strong was the feeling that this wonderful practice draws to its closure, as does the year. Upon conclusion of the month/year, these readings will be available on the BREATHWORK playlist. Continuing such a practice is a possibility.

Wednesday, December 29th, 10AM Vision 2022 Board Creation. What would bring you the greatest happiness? This two-hour event includes two brief meditations. Gratitude and Creativity with a call for permission to play with possibility. How does it get better than this?

Yesterday I shared the goodness of this page in two ways. Bringing one subscriber up to date with all that was available, even her favorite go to videos. The second way was more obscure. This person found me through my mistake. I was touched by her motivation to make right and her encouragement to keep moving. Thank you, dear friends.

The instruction is to bring awareness into our own feelings and sensations as another speaks. This is particularly helpful when the first response is of hearing these words before. Imagine expanding the capacity of hearing through a physical response. Oh my. Enjoy your day.

Good Morning, Lovelies
Touching base to let you know that the Newsletter on the H&M Subscriber’s Page is being updated most every day. I hope to keep you informed of the classes of the day as well as coming events. We are on the downside of not only the month, but the year as well. There is one more Wellness Event for the year on Wednesday which is the Vision Board Creation. This being Sunday, consider generating your gratitude list today in preparation for Wednesday. Aim for 100 things in 2021 for which you are grateful.
Here are some items on my Gratitude List
The Reading Circle. We have read some great books this year and look forward to continuing heartfelt conversations. Thank you.
The Reiki Circle and Seasonal Eve Meditation. My heart smiles with the good work happening here, in creating personal, inner peace and extending peace into the world as far as we can imagine. With regards to Reiki, we had one hands on Reiki Share of which I would like to have more. So maybe begin virtually within the Reiki Circle and then follow up with hands on? Maybe?
relax & stay aware – 31 days of meditation practice. Bringing these little nuggets to the cushion each day builds upon itself. Thank you to those making these videos some of the more popular and viewed offerings this year.
The Morning Movement Classes. The little time spent in moving the body in the morning contributes to setting the tone for the day. Those who show up motivate me to continue. Always, always start from where you are and do a little because that little adds up to be a lot.
The Afternoon Walks. I am very thankful to the seed that has grown into this practice. My legs are stronger, my circulation is more vibrant, and my endurance is surprisingly improved. Moving those legs opens those hips, and to be able to do so with the dedicated group of women showing up as often and regularly as they can is FUN! Get up off that thing and walk!
P I E. Each individual coming to me brings their sense of self and a desire to experience support of self care seems to be the overall aim here. Calling that time for yourself either in unique personalized physical movement or the opportunity to deepen the inner journey with regular energy work. Thank you all for inviting me to be a part of your journey.
Monthly Self Care Conversations. Reflecting back over the monthly meeting to discuss a chapter from “The Relaxation & Stress Reduction Workbook” now seems to have been an over arching experiment. Each month offered a strategy. This last month I learned the flaw in the conversation was no consistency, nothing to hold on to, no reason, no result. Rethinking the approach, I want to incorporate more of a cohesive group approach to self-care. There will be a thread between each month, action items to reinforce what we talk about, and lessons learned. Have a journal available to track your journey of self care. If interested, let me know so we can find the best time for most.
Onna Webdesign. Since the day gyms and classrooms closed, Hillary has entertained my crazy dreams and harnessed them into a reality. From live Facebook feeds to Zoom, from pings of being live now to fingers crossed announcements to links make it in time, to today, where we have a vibrant website that acts as a single place to find our classes, videos, and newsletters.

To the group of seven traveling the meditation path this month, let me know a time on Sunday 1/2 or Monday 1/3 that we could briefly gather in the Zoom room to share our monthly experience.

The H&M Video Library is chalk full of new, recent movement. A Subscriber shared her observation of the difference between those videos from a year ago and today. Yes, like watching an early black & white movie compared to today’s CGI special effects. However, the older videos offer a safe place for starting movement and learning. Day 22 of 31 meditations from relax & stay aware has been added to the playlist. Interestingly, today’s focus is to investigate our suffering. First acknowledge suffering is happening, then ponder the type, the reason. Funny, the reason is not out there. Our suffering is an inside job. To those traveling the meditation path this month, let me know a time on Sunday 1/2 or Monday 1/3 that we could gather in the Zoom room to share our monthly experience.

One of the beautiful benefits of Hearts & Minds Movement Studio is flexibility to stay flexible. As mentioned after Monday’s 8AM Qigong class, the energy of the live class compared with the recording is noticeable. To that point, our first videos back in 2019 do not reflect the energy of today. Interesting. When schedules are not in line, then being able to catch a recent movement video is invaluable. I am human. Doing a daily fitness walk has definitely built leg muscle and cardio endurance. Walking 2000+ steps, does the body good. Yes, I want fresh music, and fresh moves. Yes, when new eyes pop in, my energy level pops up and I aim to make it the best class ever. The same is true for Pilates, Yoga, Balance, and Chair.
Still fine tuning tonight’s 7PM Winter’s Eve Peace Imagining meditation. The longest night of the year lit by the last hours of the Cold Moon. Long, dark nights offer the opportunity to sit with peace to gauge what has worked and how we might experiment with other ways of being. The guided meditation offers space to create and own our personal image of inner peace, then share the image of World Peace out there.
When we can imagine it, we can create it!

There remain half a dozen subscribers missing. My biggest concern is that someone may miss an event that they would appreciate attending. My apologies and appreciation to those who diligently read and participant in events of interest. I aim to offer movement to the lives of others in ways that benefit well-being. I was recently reminded that I can drag a horse to water but can’t force them to drink. My angst of hounding is waning when confidence that this newsletter is the ultimate way to communicate.
Focus on Self-Care, begins January: Focus on the Calmest Part of Your Body. This year will be more about keeping a journal of our exercises and supporting the practice for the month. Plan to be a part of this monthly conversation. How does a Saturday morning meeting work for you? Offer an alternative. I’m all ears.

This morning I’m working on the meditation for Monday, December 20th, 7-7:30PM Winter’s Eve Peace Imagining Event. Winter is a time to rest and nourish off the good of the year. The dark nights offer peace to gauge what worked and how we might try other ways of being. The exercise offers a focus to create and own our personal image of inner peace first, then share the image of World Peace beyond our space. When we can imagine it, we can create it!
